The responsibilties of the CARES Team, Apartment Life, and Management are listed below.
CARES Team

Execute the selected CARES program option with excellence
- Commit to serving for at least 24 months
- Present the activity calendar by the 10th of each month for Management approval
- Submit all vacation requests for Management approval. CARES Teams receive 2 weeks of vacation per calendar year. When vacation time is approved and taken, the hour commitment is reduced by the number of vacation hours taken.
- Work within Management’s budget and budget process to plan and facilitate CARES activities
Apartment Life

Conduct a background, credit, reference check, and interview for all CARES Teams
- Recruit, train, and supervise the CARES Team placed in the community
- Sign the apartment lease; the CARES Team is listed as the occupant

Provide monthly retention reports detailing services provided, resident participation, trend reports, and Retention Alerts™
- Obtain regular satisfaction assessment from Management and CARES Team. If Management is dissatisfied with the CARES Team performance and a satisfactory resolution cannot be found, Apartment Life will work with Management to transition to a new CARES Team.
- Provide general liability insurance for the CARES program and workers' compensation for all CARES Teams. Specific coverage information is available upon request. Apartment Life’s fair housing and insurance guidelines do not allow CARES Teams to purchase or serve alcohol or to perform business functions such as office work, leasing, or maintenance.
Management Team

Provide final approval for CARES Team before placement

Select service option based on the needs of the community

Schedule a minimal amount of time each month to meet with the CARES Team to approve the calendar, exchange ideas, and review the budget

Provide team with weekly move-in list for Welcome Visits and renewal reports for Renewal Visits. Each list must contain the resident name, apartment number, phone number, and email address.

Provide all funds for CARES activities and services. A good rule of thumb is $1/unit/month. CARES Teams are not permitted to use their own money to fund onsite activities

Provide Apartment Life with a two-bedroom / two-bath apartment at no cost

Waive all deposits (except animal deposits) and application fees
- Agree to pay Apartment Life a monthly fee of $495 that covers part of our cost as a non-profit organization. Invoices will be sent to the community monthly.
The CARES program is provided for an 24 month renewable term and can be terminated at any time by either Management or Apartment Life with 30 days written notice.
